I was sitting in my living room talking to my roommate about boys and how she shouldn't pull a "Frank". We laughed hysterically because we knew what that meant.

FLASHBACK
Over the summer Frank and I went on a blind date. (blind dates are my life. no joke.) He was very nice. A little quirky, but pleasant to be around. We talked for a while after the "date" was over and he asked for my number. He said he wanted to do "this again". I wasn't super into him, but I would go on another date to see if it would go anywhere.
About a week and a half later, Frank called me. He said he had tried to come over to my apartment, but I was never home. #toobusyforboys He asked if I wanted to go on a date with him that Friday. I said yes. I was alos asked out for Saturday night by Jordan who I REALLY liked.
My weekend was perfect. 2 dates. Free food. Awesome.
Frank told me that we would be hiking so I dressed accordingly in my cute leggings, a v neck, tennis shoes, and a water bottles with a sweatshirt tied around me waist. (I'M SO HAPPY THAT IS A THING AGAIN.)
Frank drives a Mazda convertible- google it. They are super funky. He took the top off so when we drove through the canyon so the wind would blow through our hair. (romantic, right?) We arrived at our destination and began the journey. Conversation was pleasant, not really forced, but not super comfortable. We followed the signs to the top, but for some reason we started following these other people and ended up going completely off the path and into some dense forest area. I kept laughing to myself and thinking about how this could turn worse.
Frank asked if we could stop to eat. He was wearing a backpack and pulled out different bottles of lemonade, bags of trail mix, granola bars, and other food. The bag was super heavy and I felt bad that he had to carry the thing the whole time. Poor man. We sat and ate and decided to head back to the car because it was getting late.
(this is the good part)
As we followed the path back, Frank told me that was also carrying flower seeds in his backpack. I was extremely confused by this..... seeds? Frank continued by saying that he wanted to plant them by this river and come back in 7 years to see how much they had grown.
Stop.
7 years?
Like you and me come back in 7 years to see how big these flowers had grown?
Whaaa?
I wanted to fall over laughing right there, but he was so serious. I nervously laughed and he quickly picked up on the awkwardness of the conversation. He changed it to 1 year instead of 7, but that still was strange to me.
We just let it go and drove back home. It started raining on the way back and the top was still off of the car. (it was one of those cars where the top goes in the trunk, not an automatic one) A combination of the wind and rain and sweat, I looked absolutely awful! We got fro-yo and it just happened that Jordan, the guy I was going on a date with the next day, was on a group date there.
Frank and I ate and walked back home. He gave me a hug and asked if we could "do this again". I said yes.
Lots of awkward texting and Facebook messaging conversations later, no 3rd date and I'm okay with that!
So when we say don't pull a "Frank", we refer back to that awkward flower seed incident and pray that we will never be as awkward as he was.
You rock Frank! Keep being your awkward self.
