letter 8
This week has been so great!!!!!! AHHHHHH! You know when you are so happy nothing can bring you down? Ya, that's how I feel!
July is here..... oh goodness.... someone counted and we have 37 days left..... whew! time is flying, like a Jet plane :)
Monday was Canada Day and there are many missionaries who are from Canada so we played the national anthem for Canada several times! It was lots of fun! I got 4 letters and a hug through the phone from Aunt Marilyn! Wow!
Tuesday was Sister Reid's birthday and we partied like missionaries always do! hahaha The band elders came up with a cute song that they sang to her. I love her a lot, it is not always easy but I can tell you that the good times we have had have been GREAT!
Wed was temple day then to Keokuk. Then I served in the Bakery! whoo!!! It was soooo busy! I did see the Gibbons and then the Jenkins who were in our stake and I knew Sister Jenkins from girls camp. Brother Jenkins knows cal. So it was fun seeing them. I had a moment to be more Christlike and Patient with one of the senior missionaries who I served with. She would correct everything I said when giving a tour and it felt like she would invalidate the testimony I bore. It was extremely difficult and I had to grit my teeth, smile, and say she is right this did happen etc etc..... Dad, you would be proud of my patience! :)
Thursday was the 4th and and what an awesome day it was!!! We woke up rreally early so we could be to the Visitors Center by 6:30 am. Then we booked it over to Carthage for a big parade we were doing. I was thinking this was gonna be a small thing but I was mistkaen! There were thousands of people there! We were hooked up to 4 white horses and we looked so cool! (i hope Elder wortley sent pics!) We even got off the wagon and marched a bit alongside the wagon! Then we had a bbq lunch with burgers and hot dogs! The rest of the day went pretty normal but how grateful I am for the freedoms that we can exercise in America and our forefathers who sacrificed so much for the freedoms.
Friday was a typical day besides pageant rehearsal. Wow! We practiced our entrance to the stage with the bagpipes! (matt, don't you wish you could be here with all the bagpipes?!?!?!) hehehe I had a hard night that night because I remembered some things I had done in the past and it was affecting my ability to move forward. I talked with one of the sisters and I cannot describe to you the realization I had that when we are weak, we have every right in the world to give it to Him. If I tell Him that I cannot go on with this burden, please take it from me, He will. That is the power of the Atonement.
Sat was a regular day again. yay! I love all of our teamsters on the wagon. We get them to tell us stories that can be funny or fake or real, or whatever.... And it ends up that it is a spiritual experence that they shsare that helps us realize something. I am so grateful for them and the opportunity to see them everyday.
Today has been wonderful. I loved testimony meeting. I sat with the Asl sisters and one of them told me that because of my signing to the song last sunday several families told them that they were deeply touched and they wanted to know more and how wonderful that I can uplift and give my light and not even know it. Today in church they even threw me into the interpreting chair for one of the testimonies. I have never been so scared!!!! ahha!
But I want you to know how much i love serving, how much I love serving those who I work with and how much i love the Lord.
I cannot imagine a better place to be but here in Nauvoo.
I love you all.
I will see you soon.
