Day Four

I am thankful for the power of fasting.

"The purpose of our fast may be a very personal one. Fasting can help us overcome personal flaws and sins. It can help us overcome our weaknesses—help them become strengths. Fasting can help us become more humble, less prideful, less selfish, and more concerned about the needs of others. It can help us see more clearly our own mistakes and weaknesses and help us be less prone to criticize others." Carl B. Pratt

I am not going to go into specifics, but my family is going through an extremely rough patch lately.  We knew it might happen and preparations were started. It was scary and I was fearful that certain privileges and blessings would not be ours anymore.  But I don't think I have known anyone to have more faith than my mom and dad.

When I first found out, I told myself to try to do anything I could for them from 600 miles away.  (Unfortunately, it's not a lot) But I still tried.  Every time I call them, somehow they are overcoming a new battle and increasing their faith.

I have never had such great examples before in my life!

So today, it's the first Sunday of the Month, which means Fast Sunday.

I pray and ask that somehow, everything will work out.  That my parents will feel secure and safe.  I ask that the people around them will show love and compassion and want to help in any way. I know that they can do anything. They literally are superheros.

I know the power of God is in all things.  We just have to ask and put our trust in Him.
